How to be a Better Tester

How to be a Better Tester

I decided to write about this topic based on a discussion I have had about how to be a good tester. There are many people who believe that software testing is easy and can be done by anyone. However, teams of developers, analysts, … etc. strive to have good team members. The same should apply to testing team. We really need to have good testers in the team. However, why don’t we run the extra mile and look for better testers to be in our testing team?! Also, Why don’t testers move ahead and look forward to be better testers?! Testers need to answer those questions. Another question is: how can testers become better testers?

From my experience in testing, the secret of being a better tester lies in whether the person loves testing and loves to be a tester or not. There are testing team members who only want to be testers. One the other hand, there are others who love testing and love to be testers. Those who want to be testers limit themselves to do testing tasks assigned to them. However, those who love testing and love to be testers are always looking forward for space of improvements and to be better. They continue to develop themselves in testing and this makes them far ahead of other team members. For sure they become better testers and invaluable team members.

All the best…

Hi Anwar, I recently gave a keynote related to this area. I feel (more) Testers need to realise some of the things that we do and don't realise we do. http://bit.ly/1hZRdVm Cheers
